Is this a USB stick or an external drive like a HDD? You could try: - Does Tails boot from a DVD? Then your laptop works basically with tails and it seems to be a USB problem. - Does any other "Live-Linux" (Knoppix etc.) or any other OS which is supposed to boot from USB Stick boot from this USB drive? If not: - Does Tails boot from another USB drive brand?
