Yeah, we're sorry about that and it's a pain for Windows users. This is because Tails Installer, which is not available for Windows yet, creates a special structure on the USB stick (or SD card) that is then the only support layout that allows creating a persistent storage and doing automatic upgrades. We really want to simplify this process and make it easy to install directly from Windows without going through a intermediary USB stick but that's lot of work and we're not experts in multiplatform software development (especially when dealing with low-level tricks such as creating bootable devices). > For example, > 1.
