Below are my responses to Tails Support. My answers are in red.

Hi,

Could you please answer the following questions:

1. How did you verify the ISO image?

I used key on boum.org, and it verified successfully.

2. What exactly happens when trying to start? Report the complete error
message that appears on the screen, if any.

The booting off both the DVD and USB stick is unstable. Sometimes is works,
sometimes not—AND the mouse never works (I have to use an external mouse.) When
booting off the DVD, I see the “Live” screen, but after hitting “Enter” (or
playing with “Failsafe”), it appears Tails 2.5 is loading, but then it stops
at: “STARTED RECONFIGURE KEXEC DEPENDING ON RUNNING KERNEL.” I hit “Enter”, it
tells me to remove DVD, it loads other processes then crashes.

3. If you are trying to start on a USB stick, which program did you use to
install it?

On the USB stick made from the DVD ISO, Tails 2.5 loads and the Live screen
appears. It goes through all of the processes and then stops at “STARTED MODEM
MANAGER” and freezes. I have to manually shut the laptop down.

I’ve messed around with the BIOS, but there still flakiness in loading the OS.
And the mouse never works.

4. Have you been able to start Tails successfully on this computer before,
from another USB stick or DVD, or with another version of Tails? If so,
which ones?

YES to all three. However, Ubuntu 16.04 on USB always loads on problem, AND the
internal mouse works!

5. Does the same USB stick or DVD start successfully on other computers?

I don’t have another machine I can try it on.

Please advise.
