Hi,

I'm a computer douche and trying to boot Tails on my Asus Notebook X750L
and it's not working out.

- The version I tried to start is 2.6 and dates from this September

- I couldn't verify the image I downloaded because when I tried to look up
how to do this, it proved to be nearly impossible. All threads I could find
on the subject were extremely confusing, and very often for an Ubuntu
audience (I'm on fucking Windows 10 and it kills me slowly but there's no
alternative). I downloaded it from the Trails website though, but
apparently that guarantees nothing.

- The brand and model of my laptop see above.

- When I'm in BIOS (which took me 3 hours to work out btw, it's with the
shift key holding while shutting down and f2 key while starting up) there
seems to be no straight forward way to select my USB stick as a booting
source, or whatever (I don't know the correct terms for this shit, bear
with me). At some point I found a way to access my USB content through the
BIOS menu (I don't know if that's what happened I'm just saying I got to
see some files in the menu that seemed to come from there) and then I could
select something along the lines of bootaefi94.bit (that's definitely not
correct but I don't remember what it was called 'cause this is all
jibberish to me, I think there was an "x" in there as well).
I figured this seemed like a recognizable "thing" that has something to do
with "a driver" but I don't understand what I'm doing I just had a hunch
that was it. Turned out, from internet fora I browsed, I was right.
BUT when I select this and press f10 to save and exit, my laptop clearly is
trying to "do something" (black screen, working thingies inside) but then a
red window appears that says something like "could not authenticate" (also
don't remember what it said damnit I should have taken pictures) and then
the only option I have is to click "ok" after which fucking Windows 10
starts and I die a little more.

- I'm trying to start Tails on a bright orange coy fish shaped USB that has
a capacity of 8 gig.

- The program I used to install it was the Universal USB Installer
suggested to me by the Trails website.

- Have never attempted to install Trails succesfully on this computer
before.

- I don't know if this coy fish could succesfully start on other computers
that would feel like he's cheating on me.

THANKS and sorry (but mostly thanks)

Sincerely,

Clémence
