Thanks John, Excellent - it now works. You were right, Everytime I downloaded the current zip file, I ended up with a 13.6MB zip file and subsequently a 14MB img file. I've now saved it to a completely different locations and now I have a 18.5MB zip file and a subsequent 24.7 MB img file that is fully routable.
Thanks, I still don't know what I was doing wrong but I can now show this to some people at work who are showing a lot of interest, in openstreepmap, hence my other questions about navit and gosmore. They were also very interested in whether we had speed limits on all the roads. BTW, I like your mapping work around the ACT area. When Liz mentioned that there were some new divisions near Yass, I thought,... how did I miss them, and planned to visit them the following Saturday, but you got there first. Well Done. There are still some roads between the highway and Yass valley way to be mapped but I only dive dirt roads these days just prior to a service of my car so that they can replace all the air filters etc. Cheers Nick
