I'd hope (no proof!) that the DCS map uses the Geographical Name
Register (GNR) of NSW for the name.
The 'local name' might be just that - used locally.
Both 'names' need to be recorded.

sometimes have typos) and other names in use as the alt_name.

name the "on the ground" one and the DCS one alt? or the reverse.
It is also quite common to see suffixed "s" on names. Probably not
that
important, but worth asking.
