My reading of that is that they will migrate us to the new version. I get the point about the overhead of keeping email running (e.g. when you need to care about spam blocklists).
This list has become quite low volume over the years, which works really well for me. If someone has a question, I get an email. The volume is not enough that I'd check a forum site every day to see if there were any new topics. Can you subscribe and get email updates in the community forum? - Ben.
