Hi Bob, Been a lurker here for a long time.
I would leave give way POIs in OSM. My reasoning: Even if there's no sign, there's often painted dashes on the road to signify to give way. Else there's a solid line indicating to stop - I find this much easier map while using clear aerial imagery. I've been marking stop signs in VIC and NSW where there's been road fatalities in the news - in an an effort to help reduce road trauma. Some dangerous intersections are just give way signs - often at an intersection with 2 give way signs. I _think_ Tesla cars use OpenStreetMap, and if the car can't see a give way sign, I hope it can see the dashed or solid stop line. Otherwise hopefully Tesla cars can use the give way sign POIs from OSM? - Not sure. My 2ยข Cam. PS, apologies for any spam Bob, my email subscription to this list was a bit weird. Is it best to re-prefix them abandoned:highway=give_way, or just delete? Even the DCS overhead imagery is good enough in some places to see the triangle shape shadow, but it is often quite old. I am about to create a POI set in my GPS navigator for voice notes to add and remove them, so need to know.
