Hello OSM Bangladesh,

Nice to see a lot of you at SOTM Asia a few months ago!

I noticed there are some proposals for highway classification schemes on the
OSM Bangladesh wiki page. These proposals define trunk, primary, and secondary
criteria entirely on the Roads and Highway Department (RHD) classifications
from the government. There’s a few improvements to OSM that I think could be
made if more factors are considered, for example: physical characteristics and
overall road importance. Here are some examples of what I mean:

        • The main routes through Dhaka (such as Mirpur Road) do not have RHD
classifications but should be trunk or primary because they are very important
roads. A member of our team has already made this edit as we think it is better
for routing and for the network overall:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/78863628
        • The N805 becomes R856 near Gopalganj, but the overall road importance
does not change when it becomes the R856. I think the trunk classification
should continue south to the junction with the N7 here:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/22.74077792475838/89.63465673326755

I think using just the RHD classification can make it hard to tell which roads
are more important, and which roads are better for routing. Let me know what
you think.

Thanks,

Andrew
