https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/54584/overpass-get-way-direction (overpass query specialists, this one is for you :) Biggest issue IMHO is that it will look confusing for the time being, as Mapcontrib also automatically adds a centroid node to all queried ways. That is an issue they are aware of though.
