I'd definitely be interested in attending such an event and learning
from other people, time permitting of course. Thanks for organizing
this, face to face meetings are very valuable for building community.

As a participant in more than a few of these things over the last few
years, I might humbly suggest that a formal sponsor isn't absolutely
necessary for an event like this. I'm not very familiar with Ottawa
anymore, but I'm sure there's any number of organizations or
businesses that would be happy to donate their space for an event like
this, either for the publicity or the business it would bring in.
That's basically all you need. Sponsors for t-shirts, food, etc. are a
nice bonus, but not strictly required. The barcamp Ottawa page might
give you some inspiration on where to start looking:
