The term "data import" seems to be over used. For the canvec data, it will be made available as .osm files. There will be no 'bulk_implopping' since we 1st check what data currently exists, within the NTS tile area, THEN open up each .osm file and decide what we want to "add to the osm database".
We'll use the similar program as OpenJUMP / FME /SAFE where it takes the existing .osm data and checks the data to be imported for matches. What is then done is isolate what what was missing from both datasets and make BOTH available :-) SteveS did part of that with the Alberta import. The difference is that the geobase data is/was actually 'imported' where the canvec data will be 'added in manually'. A key difference that isn't highlighted IMO.
