For what it's worth, I log exclusively using a little bluetooth GPS and a netbook in my rucksack. It works extremely well, and for some reason the accuracy I get with it is just ridiculously good: far better than the far more expensive USB GPS dongle I also have.
Also, a netbook has the advantage of allowing the recording of tracks of unlimited size. Note that I'm talking about a bluetooth GPS receiver here, connected to my netbook via bluetooth.
