Hi all, I'm going to be sending out an announcement message to as many of the most active OSM mappers that I can see across the country to; -let them know that the canvec.osm.zip files will be available (with NTS map & ftp download directory) -explain that the data is available to 'enhance the map' and not 'replace the map' -that is best to find the most local mapper in the tile area, so they will be the ones to copy in the data -to keep in touch with the talk-ca mailing list, and on the OSM-ca IRC chat to ask for help -that other data (geobase Water flow direction, aborigional lands, geogratis National protected areas & a Vat of data from Land Information Ontario; including Parks & trails. -and 'happy mapping' -and that more GPS tracks that are present in the OSM database will allow for better judging of the quality of the data.
Anything else to add? Cheers, Sam p.s. I'd really like to impliment the idea of listing 'construction areas' as a way to let the community know that a large amount of data is being added & to contact that mapper if you want to help in the area, otherwise, its assumed that the mapper will copy in ALL (or as much as needed) of the NTS area. And to remove the Construction rectangle when done. -- Twitter: @Acrosscanada Blogs: http://acrosscanadatrails.posterous.com/ http://Acrosscanadatrails.blogspot.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/sam.vekemans Skype: samvekemans IRC: irc://irc.oftc.net #osm-ca Canadian OSM channel (an open chat room) @Acrosscanadatrails _______________________________________________ Talk-ca mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
