Hi all, I have edited the GoogleDocs Chart to state that the purpose of the chart is really just a 'general overview' where it list who are the main top mappers in each region.
Since its actually not possible to keep track, since this is a crowd sourced project. We can have thousands of people working all the time :) ... just like for regular mapping. I map around my house, you map around your house, and thousands of others maps around their house... and eventually we end up with a great map, This is the reason that canvec is available with quad-tree tiles. So it's tiny tiles for each area. So the in the local areas, people can get together to work on it. ... and, if we want... we can further split the .osm file into smaller areas. So the things that are possible are: -keeping a list of what tile areas are available from CanVec -what Garmin Maps are available -what combined maps are available --listing what areas have all of the converted data (for the other datasets) The origional purpose of the chart was to keep track of who is converting what data, but now since the CanVec data is being made available. It's free for hundreds of people to work on the all the time. (with only 1 person in charge of converting the data). (1:many ration instead of few:many ratio) for making .osm files which i think is better. And having people submit solutions to fix the 'final product', before it becomes available And to the other big datasets, it's really just the few of us who are working on it. Where it is actually just 1 person who is 'in charge' of converting that particular dataset, and reporting back to the community for review (then that 1 person re-converts when needed) or in some cases, someone else does the 'final product' of that dataset. So it's still good for doing the rest of automatch and we know that there are features missing from canvec, so this is a way to keep track of that stuff. if people want to. We do have WMS layers for tracing, so this also helps with locally mapping. Cheers, Sam P.S.
