Hi all, and my 2-cents for this. A point that got overlooked is the fact that this data is freely available to the public under 'unrestricted use'. I have already sent in and recieved direct permission to use it, and so can others do the same.
The cities also have imagery, as well as .... erhm... Microsoft Bing.... but only the former will (hopefully) realize the importance of making their imagery free. you can help out by submitting comments :) thanks, sam ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: LIO <[email protected]> Date: Tue, 30 Nov 2010 12:53:52 -0500 (EST) Subject: REMINDER: AOLS Cadastre Project - Survey To: Friend <[email protected]> [ http://www.bettermail.ca/ct/698/129983/140523985/6be406b4a5a612d83f0ccf1e1feb503d ] THIS MESSAGE IS BEING SENT ON BEHALF OF THE ASSOCIATION OF ONTARIO LAND SURVEYORS (AOLS)Thank you to everyone who has already responded to our survey relating to an Ontario Digital Cadastral Database. We ask those of you who have not already done so to please complete the survey before FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3RD, when the survey will be closed. Please see below for the original message and a link to the survey. ------------------------- Dear colleague: I am writing to invite you to participate in a Web-based survey on the feasibility of establishing an accurate and reliable Ontario Digital Cadastral Database. As you may be aware, there are growing concerns in the province that the lack of a high quality cadastral (i.e., parcel mapping) database is resulting in duplication of effort and higher costs of doing business. This letter is to request your participation in our assessment of the feasibility of creating an accurate and reliable Ontario Digital Cadastral Database. The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) has engaged Kennedy Geoinfo Consulting (KGC) to conduct this feasibility study, and KGC is being assisted in this project by Gary Kirstine, Consultant. The feasibility study is being undertaken in close collaboration with key public and private sector partners and stakeholders. Your opinions and perspective are very important to this assessment. Completing the survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time. SIMPLY CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK WHICH WILL TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO THE SURVEY FORM: HTTP://SURVEY.HAL.CA/S3/AOLSUSERS [ HTTP://SURVEY.HAL.CA/S3/AOLSUSERS ]. Please be assured that all specific information gathered from the survey will be aggregated to protect the anonymity of respondents. No information identifying an individual organization or person will be shared with the AOLS or any other party. Should you have any questions about the study, please contact Ed Kennedy by telephone at (613) 240-8792 or by e-mail at [email protected] [ mailto:[email protected] ] .
