If you are looking to import any SK stuff, I have the Statscan road network data converted to OSM format. It's set up so that each road is a way with only the name=XYZ, name:source=StatsCan tags. This way you can just select a road, choose "Copy", go to the Canvec layer, select the matching road, and choose EDIT->PASTE ATTRIBUTES (JOSM) to paste in the name and name:source tags.
