Hi John

I understand that alouette995 is trying to find/get all object in Quebec
with rcn_ref=1 tag. Is there a way to do such a request?

By the way, I might be interested in your VB program :-)

One technique is simply to use JOSM, select the ways you want to modify then
add the tag to all the ways in the selection. You can also delete tags in
this way as well.

Just be aware that standardization seems to be a word that OSM is not always
comfortable with.

The other technique if you are happy in VB is to get a local .osm file of
Quebec then have a program run down the file to create changes to be
uploaded by JOSM. I suggest you test it on a small area first.

I can email you a basic VB program that does something similar if that would
be of use. Be aware that bots and software such as this can create havoc.

Je suis capable de lire le français but as you can see fairly hopeless at
writing it.

Hi,

I am new in OSM world ... my project is to develop and improve the
OpenCycleMap for the province of Quebec.

I recently acquired the skills to edit tags for Cycleways and I am now
confortable.

Now for my problem...

I realise that a lot of contributors have develop the Regional Cycling
Network for “La route verte” (the provincial cycling route) but with lack of
uniformity. Some have use tags(rcn=yes and rcn_ref=x) for each way and other
have use the “add to a route” feature to update a global route. Route seem
to be a better idea..

What I want to do is transform all tracks to the “add to route” technique.
Is there a tool to make batchs modification to a lot of object on OSM? What
I think about is:

1- Find all object in Quebec only (rcn_ref=1 could exist elsewhere in the
world) that have the tag rcn_ref=1

2- Create the relation for this object with “La route verte 1” (same as if
we have use add to a route feature)

3- Delete tags rcn=yes and rcn_ref=1 from theses objects because it became
obsolete

Doing that to each route will standardize almost all the network in one
operation but doing this by hand can take months.

Is there a tool or some readings that can help me with this project?

Or is there OSM meeting near Montreal where I can have that kind of
discussions.

Thanks,

As you can read english is not my mother tongue ... please forgive errors
but I am sure that you known what I am searching for.
