Mapsource erwartet wohl für Karten mit Map-ID >= 2200 eine zusätzliche Datei zur Freischaltung. Auch in der o.g. Mailingliste hat der Autor von cgpsmapper geschrieben, daß Garmin in Zukunft einen anderen Freischalt-Mechanismus benutzt, der auf Kryptographie basiert, und nachträgliche Manipulationen der Karten verhindern will. Also ist das vermutlich eine Maßnahme von Garmin gegen die Möglichkeit, die kommerziellen Garmin-Karten so zu ändern, daß keine Freischaltung mehr erforderlich ist.
