This means that you can see how many zoom levels worth of imagery there is below your current tile, without having to zoom all the way in. It uses an approximation technique to reduce load on the Bing servers. The remaining zoom depth is visible at zoom level 12 and beyond. Also new is local caching of all the generated tiles, also to reduce Bing server load and increase performance.
