The rails port uses the npemap api to do the uk postcode geocoding. 
Currently, the npemap stats (http://www.npemap.org.uk/stats/) are:
   Prefixes collected: 2831
   Prefixes liberated: 94%
   Sectors collected: 7762
   Sectors liberated: 74%

(Where for OX2 1AB, the prefix is OX2 and the sector is OX2 1)

We believe that most of the missing prefixes are in northern ireland (for 
which the maps we do have aren't ready for use, but we might be asking for 
help from OSMers with fairly soon), and the missing sectors are a mix of 
northern ireland and scotland.
