We've decided to do it in the afternoon before the next WYLUG social on Sunday 24th February. I propose we meet in the Becketts Bank branch of Wetherspoons on Park Row at 2pm - http://tinyurl.com/364rb8 . Unfortunately the pub itself isn't marked on OSM just yet - but I'm sure it will be after Sunday ;) (I believe it's between Greek Street and Bedford Street but might be wrong...) So 2pm at Becketts Bank (ground floor if possible) to divide up the map, pair up people (where necessary/appropriate) and make sure GPS receivers are working etc - please bring a GPS thing if you can. That'll probably take about 30-45 minutes apparently. Then we'll all go our separate tracing ways - we'll try to assign spots near the city centre for those on foot and further out bits for those with transport. Don't forget to bring along a notepad/camera/dictaphone to make a note of street names/landmarks etc. I suggest we then meet back in Becketts Bank around 5pm - that gives just over a couple of hours to get out to your spot, do some traces and get back. It'll also be starting to go dark at 5pm-ish so probably best (and safer) to call it a day around then anyway. At Becketts, we'll offload the data onto laptops and get started editing it. Some of us (ie, me) might need a few hints on how to do this because JOSM is rather quirky so if it would be great if experienced users could be on hand to help us out. I picked Becketts because it apparently has "free" wireless (we may have to buy drinks for the access - but I suspect at least a few of us we'll be doing that anyway) so we should be able to interact with the OSM server. I imagine, depending on time, we'll all just get started on this in the pub then finish it on our own at home - but we'll see how it goes. So, quick timetable recap: 2pm - meet in Becketts Bank pub on Park Row, Leeds 2:30pm-5pm (ish) - out mapping 5pm - 6pm (ish) - back to Becketts Bank for a review of what we've done Then the WYLUG social kicks off just down the road at the Scarbrough Hotel from about 7pm - giving a little bit of food time for those wanting to attend both events.
