The Manchester mapping party [1] was a great success. We had in all 40 different people attending. About 37 on Saturday and 19 on Sunday which was brilliant. It was great to see 4 families involved. The children even produced some of their own mapping which was remarkable and I hope to post separately on that again later.
I do need to say a big thank you for those who came along and those who helped make it all happen. Special thanks go to Simon Ward for all is help with organising the venue and for Martin Dodge and the University of Manchester Geography department for the loan of the LCD projector and other equipment. Thanks go also to Janey Riley at the Marbella Café for a really excellent venue and wonderful soup, curry, cakes and tea :-) Finally I need to thank Cloudmade for their support. The availability of their funding makes such a big difference in organising and running these events. Simon is doing an excellent job again getting an animated party render done. Early results we saw yesterday looked wicked! The next Cloudmade sponsored party is in just three weeks time over the weekend of November 15/16th where we will be mapping and having fun in Stratford-upon-Avon (Saturday) [2] and Evesham (Sunday) [3]. I'll be posting final venue details for both days today or tomorrow. This next event is ideally suited for couples and families. It will be very much about enjoying the weekend in two of our most beautiful English towns.
