I think the Green Map people and OSM are a natural fit, but their
whole ideas on exclusivity of maps / icon licensing /
non-commercialness / attribution and so on are (quick, think of a nice
way of saying this) simply daft.

I'd been in discussions with someone from Green Maps about using their
icons on the cycle map, but I had to send them the following:

<quote>
Mapmaker License agreement - incompatibilities with CC-by-SA that I
can see with a brief look:

A) - I can't force derivative works to register with you!
A1) - Theoretically could work as part of the attribution, but it's fairly long
A2) - I can't force restrict commercial reuse
A3) - Potentially unworkable
B1(i) - unclear how this would work for a global map! Would I need to
block out areas with their own green map?
B1(iii) - again, I can't force derivative works to do this
B3(i) - not going to be feasible, even without considering derivatives.
B3(iii) - A restriction I can't require of others
B3(iv) - A restriction I can't require of others
....
</quote>

So, I put them in the "chronically misguided" category, but please
wake me up when they've been cluebatted :-)

Cheers,
Andy
