Sysadmins have got no involvement in such reverts - there are many members of the community (who have nothing special about their user accounts) who can fix things up. Anyway, there's a well-worn procedure documented on the wiki at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Vandalism#Normal_revert . Step one, as Chris points out, is to contact the user concerned to get their side of the story.
