An overlay map shows the amount of energy arriving from the sun on an average day. The page above uses Google Maps but you can buy a more detailed PDF map for your location which uses OSM/mapnik, eg: http://www.rensmart.com/Orders/CustomPVGISSolarMap/Example-Custom-PVGIS-Solar-Map.pdf Regards, Ben
