On an unrelated note I have been editing around Exeter airport today
and it appears that I have (?) inadvertently made the runways
disappear: maybe it was not the edit that caused this? The deleted
taxiway, which is no longer there on the ground is
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/113022920 and this was part of a
greater set of improvements in this change set:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/25272252.
Re the Exeter airport taxiway,
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/113022920/history
was indeed deleted, but looking at the history shows that most of the
nodes are still there and part of
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/302126513
with exactly the same tags, so I wouldn't expect that change as such to
have made it disappear, although a new stylesheet was rolled out today
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2014-September/070804.html
which I suspect means that there may be a bit of a delay with rendering.
Another question I guess is how we'd expect a disused no-longer-there-on
the ground taxiway to be mapped and to render (and I'm aware that the
tagging of that feature predates your edit by a year or so, so this is
completely unrelated to your changes). Where I've mapped e.g.
Lincolnshire former WW2 airfields I've tried to map "what there is now"
in terms of current features (service roads, areas of concrete) but also
added "historic:aeroway=blah" to describe what they were. See for
example here:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/104070967
Maybe that's a better option than "map it as a thing but then add
disused=yes"?
Cheers,
Andy
