I think instead of canal=headrace you meant to write usage=headrace? That's what's in the wiki, and also 1000+ entries seen in taginfo.
I've chatted many times to people about millraces, but the term "headrace" (and "tailrace") is new to me. I'll add keywords to the wiki to make searching easier.
