Thanks Paul.
I too don't use it at Changeset level. I wasn't talking about it either
until it was suggested as an alternative, but it doesn't deliver the
specifics as I set out earlier.
I won't use Chrome on principle (insert politics rant here, he he!)
anyway so will have to work around it manually, fair enough. It's just a
little pain. And of all the boxes to fill, asserting your sources is
one I'd make easier and compulsory rather than remove.

Hi John,
I hadn't realised you were talking about the Sources dropdown list at
the point where you upload a changeset in iD. In Chrome, that still
shows the suggested list of "Survey", "Local
Knowledge", "Aerial Imagery", "GPS",
"Street-Level Photos", "OpenStreetMap Notes", etc as
it always has done and allows multiple selections (or none).
Again, if I've read your email correctly, the Sources value(s) set at
changeset level do not copy, and never have copied, down to the
objects in the changeset. There is a separate source= tag which can be
set per object, albeit manually, to indicate how you've arrived at the
data, if you so wish. Personally, I've never bothered with these,
assuming that someone who really wants to know the value could infer it
from the containing changeset.
As such, I don't think anything has materially changed regarding
the behaviour of source values at object and changeset level in this
latest release.
Regards,
Paul

I'm a Firefox user too.
But not sure that works I'm afraid. Or if it does, please send me a
tutorial link.
Firstly, if I do multiple edits before saving, not every property or
item will have been surveyed the same way: in addition to a physical
inspection, some will have used on aerial imagery and some may have
local knowledge or cadastral etc. And unless you can attribute that
individually, it means you'd have to save every change one by one, even
when working on a single semi detached houses, for example, where I note
the use of aerial imagery if I can't see the conservatory clearly from
the road at the front.
Also, I've just tried it as you said and cannot see that the sources I
typed have carried through at all when I go back in. I remember doing
it this way when I first started...and looking back there are scores of
properties which don't have surveys tagged even though I physically
visited them and added it to the changeset at the end.
John.

"Sources" is the next field below "Changeset
Comment" after clicking "Save". Martin.
