Hi

I've just done a XAPI query and there seem to be 3514 place nodes on the whole
of Hispaniola. I've not combined these with the national borders to see how
many of these are in Haiti.

I've only recently joined this list (my previous application must have gone
wrong at the confirm stage somehow - probably user error this end...) so don't
know whether there has been any consideration to replacing all those place
nodes in Haiti by the 6,800 odd place nodes (along with their pcodes, such as
(name, pcode, lon, lat, type)
Bourdon 111-01-001 -72.310672 18.538104 lieudit secondaire2
) from the Minustah file (if we are allowed to use it) available at
oneresponse.info

http://oneresponse.info/Disasters/Haiti/MapCenter/publicdocuments/Forms/AllItems.aspx?SortField=ContentType&SortDir=Asc&View=%7b7AAAB01E%2dB85B%2d4AF4%2d8167%2dD4CCAAABD2DF%7d

(or in short form
http://is.gd/8wfwv
)

The file is Haiti_Gazetteer_with_PCodes_MNUSTAH_GIS.zip and contains an Excel
workbook and some PDF files that I've not looked at. There are 6891 placename
rows on the Gazatteeer_ByPCode worksheet. This could perhaps double the number
of places that we have marked. I'll admit I've not looked closely at the
workbook to check what the different type values would map to in OSM terms
though, so it may be less.

Is anyone looking at this already? If not are we able to use this file as a
source of places?

Thanks

Ed
