Hi.
Does anyone know if OSM is represented on, or has presented to
INSPIRE<http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/>?
I don't find any mention of OSM on their 2010 reports (there is a very
interesting one on state of *Spatial Data Infrastructures *in Ireland
here:
http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/index.cfm/pageid/6/list/4<%20http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/index.cfm/pageid/6/list/4>
).

If anyone interested there is a call for papers/posters closing in the next
few days for the INSPIRE conference in Edinburgh. Or perhaps you know
someone in UK who might be interested in presenting OSM.
http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/events/conferences/inspire_2011/

By coincidence I visit the building where INSPIRE is driven from in Brussels
a few times a year. I would be happy to introduce OSM to the Commission
there, or find out what their opinion is on it, if they have one.

I found out about INSPIRE after bumping into a local representative on the
Irish group working on integrating spatial information. They have developed
www.isde.ie which they explained is a work in progress. They had not
considered OSM to date but were genuinely interested in it and in
derivatives like OpenSeaMap. They mentioned not all participants in the
National group may be able to denote their data freely, but some might.

If people thought it was worth exploring further there are two angles to
this - tops down via Brussels and bottoms up via the national team. At least
raising awareness of OSM to both parties.

Anyone know if these folks have been contacted already?

If there is a more appropriate forum to discuss pls advise.

Whilst people are thinking about it, I was wondering if there are 'standard'
presentations that introduce OSM. Including describing the legal/copyright
considerations that 3rd parties should be aware of. I found
http://weait.com/files/IntroToOSM-DC.pdf but it seems to be from 2008/9 so
might be out of date given recent license change etc.

Thanks!
 - John.
