Hi Caroline, The hatched lines are where you don't have data downloaded. You can simply download those areas normally by hitting the download button when you are over an area of hatched lines.
It's a good idea to do a quick check on the new area to make sure the sheet is aligned correctly. You can do this handy enough inside josm by toggling between the imagery and the sheet.
