Over recent years I have received various donations of out of copyright OS
sheets 6 inch, 1:2500 and 1:1250 for OSM use. Last June Ciaran posted a
list here
 https://onedrive.live.com/?id=85B8D34D71603DA%21105&cid=085B8D34D71603DA

The 6 inch have much better clarity than the GSGS scans being added to the
JOSM background layers while the 1:2500 are even more legible for towns and
cities. They can be used for confirming doubtful spellings of names for
crossroads, bridges etc and for adding more names as well as Burial ground
outlines (where the Bing imagery shows they still exist.) Wexford and
Dublin now have over 170 each.

The plan being that unless we could get them scanned for sharing,
interested mappers in a county could get the sheets and then when they had
squeezed them dry of detail, they would pass them on to the Local Studies
Sections in their County Library service. Who so far have been delighted at
the prospect of having them available for public viewing.

Recently I received another donation of several hundred and am embarrassed
for space and so am looking for more interested mappers to please contact
me forthwith at brian(at)hollinshead(dot)net. I now have some for most of
the 26 counties. Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Clare and Sligo have
been taken or are bespoken,

I have a particular interest in passing on Meath and Wicklow but all
inquiries most welcome. In the meantime I plan on sharing duplicate sheets
and those still in copyright directly to various libraries as best I can.

Kilkenny mappers please note I have scans of about a dozen six inch sheets
for sharing. Would be delighted to hear from any of you with FOC access to
a scanner capable of a six inch sheet (100 x 70cm).

My thanks to those who have already taken some of the maps and wishing all
you OSM mappers a happy and healthy New Year.
