There are a few islands like this (Valentia Island and Inis Meanin for example).
For names I don't see any reason to differ from the Wiki - http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name . For 'Hare Island' it looks like 'Heir Island' is the more used. While on the subject of islands, there seems to be a lot of differences on what they should be a member of (County, Barony, Province, etc). It would be good to have something agreed. The boundaries seem to be set up (and many details added), but they aren't areas. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/389717766http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/389900878 In comparison, Hare Island appears as an area. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/190629034 In parallel, do we have a policy on Gaeltacht names?
