No, we are not going to do something silly like fork the osm database. We only replicate it and host customized map tiles with the visual changes we want. My suggestion is to just maintain a daily updated copy of the Asia data from http://download.geofabrik.de/asia.html Sorry to be the old goat here, but I still don't believe this is a > great idea.
