I use them to extract the nodes/ways/relations from sweden.osm.pbf and
create the odbl stats with those extracts. For example:
../osmosis-0.37/bin/osmosis --read-pbf file=../data/sweden.osm.pbf \
--bounding-polygon file=Nybro_kommun.poly completeWays=yes \
--write-xml file=Nybro_kommun.osm
Now only the data from inside the Nybro kommun boundary is in the
extracted file (except for ways, which also extend to the outside, if
they have at least one node inside the boundary).
