Incidentally, I'm currently in Amsterdam, where there are roads like this:

<------ footpath (pavement/sidewalk)
<------ cycle lane
<------ road
<------ tram
-------> tram
-------> road
-------> cycle lane
-------> footpath

...but I think that current renderers would make a bit of a mess of that
(even if they're all connected together in a 'street' relation).
