Thanks this is useful indeed ! I'd be willing to draft a "how to" based on my understanding, for peers to review, correct and finalize ! Would http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Railway_stations/Howto be the right place to start this effort ?
The overall layout would be : 1° defining levels, 2° describing each floor with a view to identify walkable itineraries, 3° describing walking connections between floors (ie stairs, lifts, ramps...), 4° describing the "public transport" systems : lines, stops 5° useful tips (using some public indoor plans to identify and position objects) 6° examples...
