I was reading through the OSM website and noticed that for bulk uploads from non-GPS data (such as from shapefiles) to contact the OSM team.. Hopefully, an email though this listserv will serve that purpose! (I just joined this list a few hours ago.)
I work at the University of Delaware and we now have an updated road network for the entire state. All of the line work and a subset of the attributes (name, address range, postal code, etc...) are unrestricted and I would like to submit the dataset to OSM. We're a small state (less than 100,000 records covers the entire state) but the spatial accuracy is pretty good. I have the data as a shapefile. What is the best way to submit them to OSM? Also, I'm involved in a project to update the USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) for our state. I would love to submit the NHD for my area and surrounding areas to OSM and use that interface for updating. The NHD should be public domain, as is all data from USGS National Map. I started reading some previous posts and it looks like others are doing similar things with the NHD. Is someone uploading the entire country or should individuals upload their own areas? Finally, we also have new orthophotography for the entire state; imagery taken Spring 2007. Data are as TIFFs, 0.25m res, 3-band...total of about 280GB. Can I contribute that data, such as maybe to OpenAerialMap? For our state, both the roads and hydro need to align with these new orthos; other datasets are also being aligned to these orthos. So, it may be important to have this imagery available as background while editing the roads/hydro, such as through JOSM or some other way.
