Great! I had checked the info under Cycleway on
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_features, and didn't see the lane_left
and lane_right. Thanks for pointing me to the right page.

The Wiki currently proposes cycleway=lane_left or cycleway=lane_right.
