Mike, Since you're on windows, close JOSM, go to %appdata%\josm\plugins\wmsplugin (copy that into the run command) and backup any custom wms servers you may have in mirror_sources.cfg, then delete that file and restart josm. Yahoo! imagery still probably won't work at very high zooms (in my experience on windows with the newer JOSM/WMSplugin) but it should now show up as Yahoo Sat and the source should no longer be yahoo: but html:
