Hello,

I'm looking at mapping out HOAs in the Colorado Springs, CO area and I
wasn't able to find any clear references to doing this.

Upon searching the archives I came across this posting <
http://www.nabble.com/Bay-Area-trailer-parks%3A-%22hamlet%22---Also-neighborhoods---cities-td20740017.html#a20762773>
about trailer parks, neighborhoods and hamlets. How does a HOA relate to a
neighborhood? There is not always a 1:1 relation. For instance, near me in
Colorado Springs there is a HOA called the "Organization of Westside
Neighbors" that contains two neighborhoods; Pleasant Valley and Old Colorado
City.

How would one map a HOA? Maybe mark a HOA as a "boundary=administrative",
"admin_level=10". Then the neighborhood gets marked as a hamlet.

Another problem that I've noticed with boundaries of this sort is that you
can't walk up to them on the ground with a GPS and map them. In some
instances you can obtain data from the county, but what do people do when it
is more vague? I know which houses are part of my HOA, should I just wing
it?

Lastly, the definition of where a neighborhood starts and ends can be vague
at best and disputed depending on who you ask. Again, should I wing it, or
just simplify the problem significantly and place a node instead of a
polygon?

Thanks in advance!
