Perhaps I'm not a typical mapper, but I don't find the existence of bulk imported local data to have been particular inhibiting in my activity level.
I don't believe there is any one thing as a "typical mapper". But I certainly agree with you myself, and so do many others, as witnessed by many past postings to the talk-us list.
