Indeed, this needs to go down to all levels. I'm curious how we'll handle this given the sheer number of route shields. Tulsa and Chicago have city highways. Texas has 7 state highway networks, in addition to county roads, US, and Interstate highways. Indian nations may or may not use the generic BIA highway signs. State cycleways often have nonstandard shields even when the state has otherwise standardized on a state cycleway shield. Major city cycleways often have bizarre shields.
