Not consistently. Trailblazer shields (the all-white rectangles) almost always use "FM," and (at least along route 66), TxDOT regularly uses both RANCH ROAD and FARM ROAD on the signage for the same route. Following the historic route of US 66 will yield dozens of examples of this inconsistency.
