If everyone was restricted to editing their own neighborhoods or even a 5-mile (~8 km) radius of their home, the map would have almost nothing on it. You do realize most of the mapping in the US came from the Census Bureau's TIGER data, which was imported by someone who can't possibly have visited the entire US in the timeframe it took to upload that data? You do realize that we have a lot of people from Amazon Logistics editing the US as well? (Granted, mostly adding driveways and other service roads, but it is still a contribution to the map.) -- Shawn K.
