Hello, I've followed OSM for a while now, although I contribute less than I would like to. Anyway, I've been thinking of the best way to collect house numbers in my area. I explain below the "ideal app" I wanted, which my lack of coding skills prevents me from developing myself. If anyone on this list think it's worth writing the app, I'd be glad to see it working!

Rather than inputting the numbers through a keyboard, does it seem do-able to record your voice as you cycle? As you cycle, you would go: "2", "4", "6".. etc, as you see the houses (I'm assuming you focus on one side of the road at a time). When back home, you could use a speech recognition software (this, perhaps: http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/) to "write" the numbers, and a specialized little tool to give a timestamp to each written number (this could help: http://www.billposer.org/Software/pause.html). From there, it should be easy to cross-reference the timestamps of the house numbers with the GPS track and create an OSM file for the house numbers (slightly offset to the right of the original track). If that works, there's no need to restrict ourselves to house numbers. If number 17 is a church, you could record: "17, worship, christian", and from there it doesn't seem impossible to generate <amenity=place of worship><religion=christian>. Does this sound reasonable (and does it sound like an improvement from typing?), or am I missing a basic problem?
