Afternoon OpenStreetMappers! For those of you who do serious travelling, and have limited bandwidth, maybe this will be some good news.
We're in the process of mirroring the OSM data, and it will reside on the University of Pretoria's FTP server. Our work on transport modelling requires us to have access to large data sets and updates of (fairly) large areas... and we've experienced some problems downloading from CloudMade, for example... some links and ways are just "missing". So, the planet.osm files are moving to Africa! It's just taking some TIME... the mirroring started last weekend, bombed out once, but is still progressing.
