I came across this survey on the OSGeo Africa <http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/africa> mailing list. It really does take less than 5 minutes to complete.

They don't really explain what happens to the data once it's been collected. It might be interesting to see the results.

OpenStreetMap is a collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world.
