I agree that if they are proposed or Under Construction they can be added and marked as such. That adds value. It may also be that that is the intention and there is a lack of knowledge. This is why I marked the main portion of the Alexandra Rd example as Construction and then sent a message to the author.
My concern is that this may be just someone "having fun" or doing some University research to see how long it takes to fix problems like this in OSM. I think like other Wiki type systems this is always a threat. If anything this would fall under vandalism rather than dispute. Refer http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Vandalism I don't want to jump to the wrong conclusion and therefore wanted to check with others on the user group who know the areas in which changes have been made. Here is my opinion of what I have seen: In all the examples the proposals are certainly possible although some are more elaborate than I would expect, all are future. If this is honest or "playing" I can't say. Perhaps someone else on the list has some insight or has possible noticed changes in other areas which they are familiar with. The first example, Alexandra, is certainly proposed although I would be surprised to see such an elaborate intersection on Nelmapius. Vd Bijl extension may also be proposed and parts of the way shown have construction started. My guess without source given is that some fantasy is included. Glen Austin interchange IMHO almost definitely fantasy. Some of the current roads has even been deleted. Midstream road again could be proposed, but could also could be imagined. Here is another example: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=-25.94185&lon=28.13667&zoom=16&way=217841674This road has been doubled and leads over the highway to the road to Olifantsfontein. All NEW, proposed?? My current suspicion is vandalism but I would be very happy to be proved wrong. OSM is currently a great source of map data. With the increased need for "off-line" data with Smart phone apps etc., OSM is an obvious choice. The problem is that users are more easily chased away by bad data than won back, ask any marketer. Therefore we need to find ways to jealously guard quality. I was recently in Mozambique without roaming and OSM data (OSMAND) was great!! The roads seems to be correctly tagged but I don't live in the area so don't know. If they are only proposed roads and is marked as such that is fine.
